The Armoury Chamber museum has been in operation since 1806: at first, it was open only to the nobility but since the revolution, everyone has been welcome. Its collection includes the armour of the Tsars Aleksey Mikhaylovich and Mikhail Fedorovich, the finds from the Staroryazan treasure, the church bowl of Yuri Dolgoruky, Monomakh's Cap and the other items used in the coronation ceremony. The exhibition also features works by foreign masters, including the throne of Boris Godunov, adorned with gold and semi-precious stones, that was given to him by Shah Abbas.
