Sokolniki Park

One of the oldest parks in the capital. Its name is associated with falconry, which was held here in the XVI—XVII centuries on the initiative of Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich. For a long time, this was a favorite place for grand ducal gentlemen to relax: Elizabeth Petrovna arranged lavish holidays in Sokolniki ,Catherine the Great liked to walk around the neighborhood, and Alexander I spent a solemn part in the park on the occasion of his coronation. The grove acquired its current fan-shaped layout in the 1840s. Today, the Park of culture and recreation is one of the main centers of attraction for Muscovites and guests of the capital. Sokolniki has picnic areas, a summer cinema and theater, a swimming pool, a museum, attractions, cafes, children's and sports grounds, excursions, master classes and much more.
