Khrushchev — Seleznev Estate
Prechistenka st., 12/2, building 1, Moscow
Today: 00:00 - 00:00
The history of the mansion dates back to 1814, when Ensign Alexander Khrushchev purchased a plot with the foundations left after the fire of 1812. Soon afterward, he commissioned a new wooden Empire-style building, likely designed by the architects Domenico Gilardi and Afanasy Grigoriev. Thanks to its corner plot, the mansion boasts grand facades on both sides. The house is decorated with an eight-column portico on one side and a sculptural bas-relief on the other. None of the original interior decor has survived. During Soviet times, the building housed communal apartments, and since 1961, it has housed the Pushkin Museum.
