Tretyakov Gallery. Building on Kadashevskaya embankment

The new building of the Tretyakov Gallery is equipped with modern exposition and exhibition spaces, restoration workshops for paintings, graphics, sculpture, as well as a scientific photo archive. The open atrium of the new building, which can be entered from the embankment, is a multifunctional public space available to visitors.

There is a souvenir and print store, ticket office, tour desk, and catering areas. Checkrooms and restrooms for visitors are located on the underground floor.

Of particular interest is the architectural design of the building. On the facades of the new building of the Tretyakov Gallery there are reproductions of 34 works of Russian artists, which are included in the protection zone of the UNESCO World Heritage.

From October 30, 2024 to April 6, 2025 the exhibition “Peredvizhniki” will be held in the halls of the third floor. The choice of the project for the opening of new spaces of the Tretyakov Gallery on Kadashevskaya Embankment is not accidental. The creative rise of the Peredvizhniki in the 1870s-1890s happily coincided with the period of maturity of Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov's collection. Their works became the core of the collection of the founder of the Tretyakov Gallery. Presenting new museum spaces to visitors, the Gallery recalls its origins.

From December 4, 2024 to May 11, 2025 in the halls of the first floor will be held a monographic exhibition of Viktor Popkov - one of the leading masters who defined the image of the national art of the second half of the twentieth century. The exhibition will include more than 200 paintings and graphic works by the master.
