Marfo-Mariinsky Monastery

In the very center of the capital there is an island of peace and beauty - the Marfo-Mariinsky Monastery of Mercy, built by Grand Duchess Elizaveta Fyodorovna Romanova in 1909. Today it is a convent with a special way of life. The architectural ensemble of the monastery includes the Intercession Cathedral, the church of Martha and Mary and the chapel church built in the early XIX century. There is a museum of Princess Maria Fyodorovna in the monastery. Along the northern border of the monastery there is a three-storied building of the sisters' dormitory. There is an orchard with two fountains and a gardener's house, reconstructed in 2007-2008.
