Petrovsky Passage

The building of the arcade on Petrovka was built in 1906. It belonged to Vera Firsanova-Ganetskaya, a well-known Moscow landlady. Inside there were about 50 stores of famous brands of that era. The external appearance of the building is characterized by eclectic style, the facade is decorated with stucco patterns and sculptural compositions, and the aisles are divided by arched passages with columns. The construction of the arcade was supervised by engineer Vladimir Shukhov. He used new technologies in his work and designed the original vaults of the shopping gallery. After the revolution, the arcade housed a cinema, an industrial exhibition, "Dirigablestroy" and other organizations. Among them is the auction, which was visited by the main characters of the novel "The Twelve Chairs". Today, the Petrovsky Passage once again houses boutiques of famous brands.
