The history of the garden begins in 1879 ― it was founded by a local merchant Bobrov. Some of the trees planted in the 19th century have survived to the present day. During the Great Patriotic War, the garden area was severely damaged. Restoration began in 1949: new plants and expositions appeared, and a greenhouse was built. The 70s of the last century saw a new period of desolation of the garden, and its modern appearance was formed in the 1990s. Today, there is a large collection of steppe plants here ― unique and the northernmost in the entire Upper Volga region.
