The church was built in the 1660s on behalf of Boris Morozov, an associate of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. The temple occupies a large territory, the entrance to which is through a majestic gate. The complex includes several buildings, including the bell tower - it was restored after the explosion in 1941. The peculiarity of the temple is its interior decoration with various wall paintings. The church also contains relics of several saints - St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, St. George the Victorious, healer Panteleimon and others.
