The main square of the city, bounded on different sides by Severnaya and Ushakov streets, as well as Lenin and Suvorov avenues. The history of the name goes back to the depth of centuries. In 1559, there was a spring here, near which a mass execution of supporters of the legitimate king took place by order of Duke Karl, the pretender to the Swedish throne. According to legend, on that day the water in the spring turned the color of blood, and so the well, which was installed a little later, was named Red.
