Timiryazevsky Park

A large natural area of 232 hectares on which the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy is located. The territory is more like a forest rather than a park due to the vastness of wild-growing greenery. There are dirt roads between ancient oaks and linden trees. There is the Zhabenka River and the Big Garden Pond, where ducks live. The history of this place goes back several centuries. In the XVII century there was a village here, which belonged to the grandfather of Tsar Peter the Great. The latter visited these places and personally planted several trees. In the XIX century Peter's Academy of Agriculture and Forestry was founded. Then they also organized the Forest Experimental Dacha for scientific research, dividing the area into 14 blocks. There are various laboratories, a botanical garden and a meteorological observatory on the territory.
