Building number 22 on Bolshaya Dmitrovka is attractive with its unusual architecture and original facade. Built in the beginning of the 20th century, it holds many secrets. Before the revolution, this building was one of the most powerful banks of the Russian empire, and after 1917, stolen jewels were sold here. How did money use to be stored? How did they protect the multi-ton safe deposit boxes from robbers? Why did pawnshops operate in the USSR? A tour of the bank vault will answer these and many other questions. You will see an armored bank vault that could withstand a direct hit by a tank shell, burglars’ keys from the last century, caskets with “secrets” that belonged to the Russian aristocracy, the most precise scales for weighing diamonds, and much more.

The tour price includes guide services.
