Museum of Cosmonautics

One of the largest science and technology museums is located in the stylobate of the monument "Conquerors of Space" on the Avenue of Cosmonauts of VDNH. The idea of creation belonged to the founder of the Soviet rocket science Sergey Korolev. The museum space was opened in 1981 to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's flight. The exhibition area is more than 3 square kilometers. The number of exhibits in the collections is more than 100,000. One of the most famous is the full — size ship of the Soyuz series. The base unit of the Mir space station is the most visited. In it, you can try on a "cosmic" life. The museum presents the first artificial satellite of the Earth, cosmonauts ' work clothes and other relics of the history of space exploration.
