Nikulin Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard

One of the oldest circuses in the country was founded by Albert Salamonsky ― in 1880 there were only five rows of chairs and wooden benches with simpler and cheaper seats. After 1917, the clown Vitaly Lazarenko performed here, reprises for which Mayakovsky wrote. Here worked a trainer Irina Bugrimova, clowns Leonid Yengibarov and Pencil. One of the most famous duets of the Circus on Tsvetnoy was Yuri Nikulin and Mikhail Shuidin ― their numbers caused sincere laughter and smiles. In 1989, a new circus building was opened, and since 1996 it has been named after Yuri Nikulin.
