Ostafyevo State Museum Estate — the Russian Parnassus

Founded in the 17th century by statesman Prokopiy Lyapunov, this estate passed through multiple owners before being acquired by the Vyazemsky princely family. Under their stewardship, it flourished as a hub of Russian cultural life in the 19th century. The architectural ensemble features a two-storey palace with twin wings, a colonnaded gallery, and a landscaped park with a pond and avenues of linden trees. Today, the main building hosts a museum showcasing the estate’s history and the daily life of Imperial Russia’s nobility.
