Friendship of Peoples Fountain

The largest fountain on the Central Avenue of VDNKH, created in 1954 by Konstantin Topuridze and Grigory Konstantinovsky, is the Friendship of Peoples. In the center of the composition is a sheaf of golden ears, symbolizing the integrity of crops, and around the circumference are 16 gilded beauties representing the republics of the former USSR. With their appearance, the girls embody the friendship of peoples — hence the name of the fountain. Today it is one of the favorite meeting places of Muscovites and guests of the capital.
