Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge

Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge
Moskvoretskaya Street, Moscow
Today: 00:00 - 00:00

This is the oldest crossing of the Moskva River, connecting Zamoskvoretskaya Square and Krasnaya Square. In the 15th century there was a wooden pontoon bridge here, which was removed when enemies attacked. It existed on its rickety structures for almost two centuries. Then the bridge was placed on stone supports, and after a fire in 1870 the spans were replaced with metal ones. In 1938 it was rebuilt, making the structure reinforced concrete. Today this stately and laconic bridge echoes the architecture of the Moscow Kremlin. There are walkways and observation decks offering panoramic views of Zaryadye and the Moskva River.
