Today: 00:00 - 00:00

The Triumphal Arch, located on Kutuzovsky Avenue, were erected in honor of the victory over Napoleon in the Patriotic War of 1812. They are among the most famous such structures around the world. Originally, the wooden arch was erected near the Tverskaya Zastava in 1814. However, in 1834, by decree of Nicholas I, a new, sturdy stone monument was erected, designed by architect Osip Bove. Almost a century later, in 1936, the arch was dismantled. The Triumphal Gate received its present address in 1968, when restorers recreated its historical appearance as accurately as possible.
