Manezhnaya Square

One of the central promenade zones of Moscow, where both residents and guests of the city like to visit. Manezhnaya Square was formed in the 1930s. According to the General Plan for the reconstruction of the capital at that time, a whole block of houses was demolished here. In their place were to appear various monuments, but it turned out differently, and the square remained practically empty for about 60 years. In the 1990s, the space was freed from transport and reorganized. In the center of the square they placed a dome with a monument to St. George the Victorious, closer to the Alexander Garden - fountains and bronze sculptures by Zurab Tsereteli, and under the ground they built a modern shopping center. Later, the monument to Marshal Georgy Zhukov near the State Historical Museum completed the look of the square.
