Novoslobodskaya Metro Station
The three―vaulted pylon station at a depth of 40 meters underground was designed by architect Alexey Dushkin, his latest project for the Moscow metro. The author worked together with Alexander Strelkov and created an original fairy-tale world underground. The pylons of the station "dissolve" into space thanks to the numerous stained glass windows and arched passages. The glass patterns are filled with flowers, birds and exotic plants. Above each of them is a medallion with images of the Soviet intelligentsia or geometric shapes. The main decoration of the hall was the mosaic "World Peace" by artist Pavel Korin. The surface lobby of Novoslobodskaya resembles an ancient temple with porticos and columns. The station has been operating since 1952.
