Lopukhin — Stanitskaya Estate

The architectural monument of the late 18th century in the heart of the capital was originally built for Abraham Lopukhin. The architect Afanasy Grigoriev is considered to be the author of the project. The one-storey wooden mansion with columns is designed in the Moscow Empire style. The house has retained in its historical appearance to this day. Today, visitors can admire its façade with stucco reliefs and an Ionic portico, as well as its tall, narrow windows framed by relief masonry. The original architectural layout and picturesque decor have been preserved inside the mansion. The front rooms are decorated with elaborate stucco. After the 1917 revolution, the mansion stood vacant until 1920, when it became home to the Leo Tolstoy Museum, which continues to operate here today.
