Pyatnitskaya street

The street passes through the historical Zamoskvorechye district. In the XV—XVII centuries, there was a road to the south of the country, it was called Bolshaya. Pyatnitskaya received its modern name after the church of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa, which was located on the site of the current Novokuznetsk metro station.

Initially, poor artisans and merchants lived here. During the reign of Tsar Ivan the Terrible, Streletsky troops settled on the street. After their abolition, the lands were transferred to merchants who lived in the Kitay-Gorod area.

Today, Pyatnitskaya is a partially pedestrian street with many bars and restaurants. The historical buildings of the XIX—XX centuries in the classical and modern styles, as well as individual buildings of the XVII—XVIII centuries, have been preserved here.
